Typically V&C’s role in these projects has been to provide our client with the best legal advice for business-planning regarding state, federal, or municipal environmental regulation.
Ancillary to or independently of such projects, V&C attorneys have represented clients in successfully resolving environmental law disputes, whether through litigation before Mexican courts or through international commercial arbitration.
Over the last twenty years, V&C partners have taken on significant projects related to Mexican environmental legislation, as well as rights and duties arising under international agreements. We have worked on drafting landmark Mexican environmental laws, as well as on implementing rules and standards.
V&C is the primary Mexican consultant to the Commission for Environmental Cooperation of North America (CEC). Various United Nations agencies consult us, chiefly regarding on water, waste, and standardization projects, and most recently climate-change policy in Mexico. These projects include those undertaken by:

  • the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), a specialized UN agency, the authoritative voice on the state and behavior of the Earth's atmosphere, its interaction with the oceans, the climate it produces and the resulting distribution of water resources,
  • the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the voice for the environment within the United Nations system, and
  • the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the UN's global development network.
